Walkthrough

Speak to Durzahl and Convince him about "Absolutely Painless". Durzahl is in the southwest corner of the main hall of Qur'xa Temple, at /loc 6310, 873, -16062.

Hail Durzahl again to complete the quest.

Dialogue

Quest Offering

"Talk to those Shapers and see what they can do. If we nyth don't have to worry about pain, well, you'll certainly be getting what you pay for."

Durzahl

Durzahl speaks before you can. "Ah, <Player<. I am beginning to associate pleasure to our frequent discussion."

You nod. "As am I, Durzahl. I am beginning to find the art of the followers of Zhal to be most intriguing."

Durzahl exhales sharply. "Wonderful" A potential convert!"

You chuckle. "We'll save that discussion for another time, Durzahl. I have business to discuss with you first."

Durzahl says, "Business before pleasure is how the saying goes, is it not?"

You say, "My business, pleasurable or not, involves a request from the nyth for your unique handiwork."

Durzahl chuckles. "The nyth are adorable creatures. They make excellent recipients of pain. Why, did you know that extreme pain forces them to shift shape?"

You ignore that tidbit of knowledge. "Lash desires a pain nullifier to be crafted for him and his kind."

Durzahl clenches his teeth and recoils, "Blasphemous request! I shall take no part in it."

You suggest, "Lash brought up an interesting point. The absence of a sensation may well be a sensation all its own."

Durzahl replies, "All sensations are sacred. Zhal has taught us that each is precious and valued like equal to all others."

You motion toward the blindfold on Durzahl's head. "Then why were you punsihed with the absence of sight? You have corrected this with your servitors, but surely, if you are Zhal's chosen, he chose you for how you were, not how you currently are."

Durzahl growls, "I will not eliminate a sensation! Every sensation must have equal and opposite sensation!"

You ask, "Does the opposite sensation have to be experienced by the recipient of the initial sensation?"

Durzahl sneers and then ponders this. "You speak litanies of the dark one. Praise you, <Player>." Durzahl cackles. "So obvious, why did I think not of this before?"

You ask, "Will it work? Having a graft absorb the pain for the recipient?"

Durzahl laughs. "No, it is far more brilliant than that, how can you not understand it yourself? You are the origin of this greatness."

You say, "You're going to have to explain to me, Durzahl."

Quest Completion

Durzahl spasm momentarily and then exclaims, "The nyth are the key. Their reaction to pain forces them to change forms."

"My are can already transfer pain into pleasure, but this is useless for the nyth's covert activities, where concentration must be maintained and extreme sensations inhibit their capabilities."

"By shaping another nyth into a living graft that absorbs the pain of the host nyth, and converting it to pleasure, the host can maintain concentration and the second nyth receives a bounty of pleasure in return!"
