Game Description
Seek out the Tanvu Emissaries at the Whispersleep Inn, and speak with them to establish a relationship. Equip the Knowledge Seeker's Rod to earn their regard.
Walkthrough
Even thought the quest text specifies equipping the Knowledge Seeker's Rod is required, it's not. I was able to complete this quest at level 4 (before I was able to equip the Rod). My total presence at the time was 1 Outsider and 6 Domestic.
Dialogue
Quest Offering
"Apparently, for the last few days, a pair of Emissaries from the human city of Tanvu have been staying at the Inn, awaiting an audience with the wood elves," says Elder Sal. "They have been treated with about as little importance as we have - possibly even less. Why don't you go speak with them and see if there's any way that we can help them? And maybe get some help for us in turn..."
"Be sure to wear that Knowledge Seeker's Rod I gave you, or they may not think you're worth their time."
Pang Sixfish
- "Why, the blessing of the Glade on you, Emissary Sixfish," you say.
- Pang Sixfish glances at you and blinks. "Why, greetings," he says.
- "I do apologize that you have received such a cold greeting from our fair city," you say. "I am here as an envoy from the raki Elders, who assure you that we were only just made aware of your presence."
- Pang Sixfish nods stiffly. "We have been waiting here for some time with no word from the city's council," says Pang Sternly.
- "Which we, unfortunately, have no presence on," you say, "or make no mistake, we would have moved to have you admitted immediately."
- Pang looks pleased. "You are quite different from your elvan cohabitants," says Pang Sixfish. "They should send more of your kind to deal with us."
- "They unfortunately treat us with about as little regard as they do you," you say.
- "The wood elves think that, well, their excretions are as flowery scented as the flora they worship," you add with a grin.
- Pang Sixfish laughs deeply. "That they do!" he says. "I am very pleased by your words, uh... ?"
- "<playername," you say with a bit of a flourish.
- "My apologies for not asking earlier," says Pang.
- "Oh not to worry, Emissary Sixfish," you say, "I'm just a humble envoy from a group without much social power. I wouldn't expect you to remember."
- Pang grunts. "If you continue making friends more easily than the wood elves do," he says, "you may find yourself moving up through the ranks more quickly."
Cho Moonflower
- "Emissary Moonflower," you say respectfully, "I heard that your beauty is only match by your wit. If so, I doubt I can maintain a conversation for long with you."
- Cho raises a delicate eyebrow. "Pang told me you had a way with words," she says in amusements, "I see that it's true."
- "Emissary Sixfish is generous," you say. "Far more generous than he need be."
- "What is it that you seek, <playername>?" she asks. "You have Pang's friendship, do you seek mine as well? I have few friends. Let me warn you of that."
- "Friendship is the beginning of any good alliance," you say.
- "Ahh," says Cho with a smile, "I'm beginning to see. You're looking for an alliance. Perhaps the wood elves disregard both of us, but if we could ally, it would be harder for them to do so."
- "Precisely," you say, "I'm glad you see that as well, because i trust your judgement far more than my own."
- "Well," says Cho, "I am not sure that the people of Tanvu need the help of... your people."
- "Go ahead and say it," you say boldly, "fox people, correct? Or maybe little people?"
- Cho shrugs slightly. "I would not have said that..." she says, "but I won't deny that you don't cut the most imposing figure."
- "Well," you say, "let me assure you, my people have great powers of our own. It is out of a sense of obligation that we have allowed the wood elves to lord over us, even though it is our very powers that keeps the Ulvari at bay."
- "I, along with others, have been trying to shake my people from that crippling sense of obligation," you say. "It's true that the wood elves saved our people, and we will always be grateful for that, but it is time that we were acknowledged as being worthy of respect."
- "Well said," says Cho thoughtfully. "Well said indeed. you say it is your power that stays the Ulvari?"
- "it is a bond we formed with the wood elves, which are heighted by crystal shrines that we constructed," you explaign.
- "Then I would count that as a measure of worth that I will not even begin to question," says Cho with a strong tone of admiration. "You have your ally, little one."
Quest Completion
Cho studies you and says, "While we would like to talk more about this shrine and this bond, right now we must speak to the wood elves."
"To secure this friendship," she says, "we would ask that you help us to that end."
