ViewsAppease the Elven MagesFrom TactWikiOverview
Game DescriptionSpeak with Arcanists Ardnor and Maeneth about being satisfed with the rations that everyone else at Southwatch eats. Return to Lord Hugo when you are through.
WalkthroughOnce you have the quest, head west along the road to Heartsworn Bullwark where you will find the Arcanists up on the wall. Convince Arcanist Ardnor and Arcanist Maeneth to "Be Satisfied". WARNING: Be very careful in approaching the wall. There's a ~lvl 34 Undead Mage on the stairs that has long aggro range and is a very tough fight, even for similarly levelled characters. DialogueQuest OfferingLord Hugo Heartsworn lets out a weary sigh and says, "I know you're in a hurry, but I need someone with good communications skills to help me out with a little problem I am having." "I have a pair of elven mages down on the wall who make many demands of me. They consider themselves to be doing us a very great favor, which they are, but they hold it over our heads. They asked me to bring in a supply of elven bread, and I cannot for the life of me manage it. Please, convince them to be satisifed with ours. Arcanist MaenethLeth Nurae ordered us here to help hold the wall, but I do not wish to stay. You say, "Are you Arcanist Maeneth?" "I am," says Arcanist Maeneth. "What is it?" "I am here on behalf of Lord Hugo," you begin. "Oh," says Arcanist Maeneth, interrupting. "Have you come to tell us he found our bread?" You shake your head and say, "No." Arcanist Maeneth frowns and gives you a bland look. "Then what are you bothering me for?" "I came here to ask that you and your companion try to be satisfied with what the Wall offers," you say. "Pardon?" asks Arcanist Maeneth. "Come again?" "Everyone here eats the same food," you say. "You and your companion are no exception." "That gunk they call bread may suit the constitutions of dwarves and men," says Arcanist Maeneth, "but we elves have a finer palette." "There is nothing else available, though," you say. "The Wall has a hard enough time mustering up any supplies." "You should be grateful to have anything to eat," you say, "as the supply lines could be cut off at any time." Arcanist Maeneth looks chastised. "Why I... didn't realize the situation was that dire," says Arcanist Maeneth with a frown. "Aren't I a brute?" "Lord Hugo would love very much to supply you with your bread," you say, " but he himself often foregoes dinners to be sure all the troops are fed. So be grateful you eat at every meal." "Tell Lord Hugo not to worry about the bread," says Arcanist Maeneth. Arcanist Ardnor"We should be in Leth Nurae, defending our people and our queen from the corrupt Kaon. Not here, throwing ourselves against this wall." You say, "Ah, Arcanist Ardnor, just the person I needed to see." Arcanist Ardnor peers at you curiously and asks, "Oh? Why do you need to see me?" "I am here on behalf of Lord Heartsworn," you say, "who begs your patience." "My patience?" asks Arcanist Ardnor. "I would consider myself a very patient person." "Exactly what is he asking me to be patient with?" asks Arcanist Ardnor. You nod and say, "He asks that you leave the matter of the bread be." "So he expects me to sit back quietly and eat their slop, then?" asks Arcanist Ardnor. Let me tell you something: I don't want to be here." "I do not want to be here, nor does my companion," says Arcanist Ardnor. "We are only here because our queen asked us to be." "And every day we wish we were back," says Arcanist Ardnor. "All we ask are a few comforts of home to help us feel a little more comfortable." "While I undersatnd all of that," you say, "you must understand that Southwatch is fighting a war. They are lucky to have any food here." "Everyone else settles for what they are given," you say, "because they know that there is no way to bring anything else in." "Lord Hugo asks no more of you than he does any other soldier," you say. "When more supplies are able to be brought in, they will get you your then." "But until then you must be patient," you say. "Bery well," says Arcanist Ardnor, sniffing. "I suppose if I must." "But I am not satisfied with this arrangement," adds Arcanist Ardnor. Quest CompletionLord Hugo smiles and asks, "So they've agreed to eat our bread? Oh thank Alurad." [Continue] "We would love to be able to feed everyone exactly what they want to eat here," he said. "I myself would kill for a freshly baked muffin... but rations are limited as it is. We cannot afford to grant any special requests." ParleysArcanist Maeneth
