DialogueQuest Offering"We are aware that the Arcane Camarilla has been conducting magical studies behind our backs. We have warned them against this in the past, and yet they continue to disobey us. We are not pleased." "So, from here on out, we will only conduct business with one of the other two trading associations her in New Targonor. Speak with representatives from both of them to determine which would be best suited." "The, press the two magically adept Houses, the Hilthorns and the Tanvager, to follow our lead." Saori KendallYou say, "Are you in charge of the Imperial Trade Organisation?" "I may be," she says, examining you. "Why?" "The Sages Arcane are seeking a possible friendship with them," you say. "The Sages Arcane?" asks Saori suspiciously. "What do they want from us? Don't they do business with the Camarilla?" "The are currently very unhappy with the Camarilla," you say. "It seems they've been conducting magical experiments behind the Arcane's back." Saori snorts and says, "Everyone knows the Camarilla aren't exactly open about what they do." "Yes, well," you say, "I guess the Sages got tired of telling them to stop." Saori nods and says, "So, they want us to get their goods for them? Interesting." "Provided you can offer more than the New Targonor Trading Company," you say. She laughs and says, "Oh, we can offer much more. I promise you that." "We can get things much more cheaply, and easily," she says, lowering her voice, "and of a greater variety than the Company." "Considering that the Sages Arcane deal mostly in the more... exotic," she says. "I am sure they can see a benefit in that." "While that may be so," you say, "do the benefits outweigh the risks? In other words, can you make it worth the fact they'll be risking their good name doing business with you?" "Oh," she says, "we can do that, I promise." "Then I think you may find a willing partner in the Sages Arcane," you say with a smile. "That's the best kind," she says with a grin." Nolan MerralYou say, "Can you speak for the New Targonor Trade Company?" "Well," he says, "I can certainly try!" He smiles warmly. "The name's Nolan, and I do my best to run this outfit." Then you're exactly who I need to be speaking with," you say. "The Sages Arcane are looking for someone new to provide their magical goods." "Oh?" asks Nolan. "They aren't happy with the Arcane Camarilla?" You shake your head and says, "The Camarilla refuses to stop conducting magical research behind the backs of the Sages Arcane." "So they want to sever their ties with them," you add. He nods and says, "I never though much of the Camarilla... A little obsessed. My Captain doesn't trust them, and if the Sages Arcane doesn't as well, maybe there is something wrong with them." You nod and say, "The Sages Arcane believes that there is, and they intend to try to bring House Tanvager and House Hilthorn with them to whomever they decide to buy from." "Really?" asks Nolan. His eyes light up. "That is quite the profitable arrangement." You nod and say, "So, make you case. Why should the Sages Arcane take on an arrangement with your group?" "You mean as opposed to the Imperial Trade Organization?" asks Nolan. You nod. "Well, to begin with, they're criminals," he says. "If the Sages Arcane is breaking away from the Camarilla because they don't trust them, the Imperial Trade Organization is not where they should go." You say, "Point well spoken. What else?" "We are established and reliable," Nolan saya. "Since everything we do is legitimate, it is much less volatile. They can depend on our shipments, which is more than they'll get from the Imperials." "We also have a wide network within New Targonor, "he adds, "for their convenience." "Basically," Nolan finishes, "if they're looking for security and reliability, they should come to us. If they want to gamble with their money, then by all means, they should make their dealings with the Imperial Trade Organization." High Inquisitor BirswenYou say, "High Inquisitor, I've spoken with the heads of both the Imperial Trade Organization and the Trading Company." "And?" Birswen asks. "What were your findings?" "Well," you say, "you are dealing with two very different business models." He chuckles and says, "I had some idea of that coming into it, yes." You nod and say, "The Imperial Trade Organization will be able to use their less than legal methods to get you whatever you want. Cheaply" "They will also be more discreet," you say. "You can probably trust your purchases to be kept much quieter with them - though they are likely to sell that information for the right price." "And the Trading Company?" asks the High Inquisitor. "The would offer security and reliability," you say. "I doubt you would ever have to worry about having something you neeed when you need it if you order through them," you say. "And it would be much easier to get it into your hands since they operate without any fear of the law," you say. He nods and seems to consider what you've presented to him. "They also wanted to point out that you stopped working with the Camarilla because you couldn't trust them," you say. "The Imperial Order would be that much worse." "Well," says Birswen, "it wasn't so much a matter of trust as respect. They disrespected us by their actions, and did not acknowledge our authority." He frowns and seems to think again. Finally, he says, "I do believe the Imperial Trade Organization is actually the better choice for us." "The New Targonor Trading Company has too many different hands in their pockets," he says. "And our goods would pass under far too many interfering gazes if conducted by them." Birswen smiles. "Yes, I think this is the right choice." "Please," he says, "go now and encourage others to follow us and help make the Imperial Trade Organization in charge of the distribution of magical goods in New Targonor." Duchess Perthia HilthornLooking at the heavily made-up you woman, you say, "You must be Duchess Hilthorn." She smiles, and you swear something flakes off of her. "Yes I am," she says. "Why?" "I was sent here by High Inquisitor Birswen," you say. "The Sages Arcane have decided to change suppliers." She stares at you blankly. "Suppliers of magical goods," you say. "They're unhappy with the Arcane Camarilla." She looks decidedly bored as she stares at you. You clear you throat and say, "Knowing that your House is also a powerful force of magic in the city, they wanted to advise you to do the same." "What's wrong with the Arcane Camarilla?" asks Duchess Hilthorn, tapping her foot impatiently. You say, "They were going behind their back and over their heads conducting magical research." "And so the Sages Arcane's throwing a fit about it?" asks Perthia, making a face. "I care why?" "They simply thought that you might appreciate knowing that the new leader in magical supplies will soon be the Imperial Trade Organization," you say. "If you wish to stay at the forefront of the magical community, you should consider looking to them for your needs. All the mages of New Targonor soon will." Perthia blinks at you and then suddenly begins to laugh. "Oh, pardon, excuse me," she says between guffaws. "You are standing in front of me, Duchess Perthia Hilthorn, trying to tell me that I need to follow the example of the Sages Arcane?" she asks. "I am Perthia Hilthorn," she says, "I don't follow trends, I make them." She laughs again. She calms down and stares at you with a look of surprising seriousness. "You can tell the Sages Arcane that we'll see who directs the mages of New Targonor," she says with a smile. High Sorceress Alia TanvagerYou say, "Are you Alia Tanvager?" "I am," says the woman. Her voice resonates with an ethereal tone to it. "You are the headmaster of the College of Magic, correct?" you ask. "On this plane, yes," she says with a smile. You say, "Well, the Sages Arcane sent me to speak with you about the Arcane Camarilla." "What about them?" asks the Sorceress. "That sages are exceedingly unhappy with them," you say. "It seem they will not stop going over the heads of the Sages and conducting magical research." Tanvager nods, saying, "This has made us unhappy as well. They are not above moving into our territory and stealing our secrets." "Well," you say, "even now, the Sages Arcane is preparing to draw up an agreement with the Imperial Trade Organization whereby they would become their new supplier." "The will be pushing all the mages of New Targonor to do the same," you say. "Hopefully, the Camarilla will learn from this." Tanvager nods and says, "So, they're calling for a general boycott of the Camarilla, hmm?" "I think we here at the College may be able to uphold such a boycott," she says, "and be sure our students do as well." "Any student caught with Camarilla goods will be subject to harsh punishment," she says with a smile. "That should help." You nod and say, "Indeed it should." Quest CompletionBirswen regards you as you approach him. "Have they been brought on?" [Continue] "Tanvager yes, Hilthorn no," he says with a frown. "The Hilthorn believe they can continue to defy the rest of the magical community and get away with it simply because they are rich. They know nothing of the true potentials of magic - nor do they care to. I think they will find soon enough that cheap parlor tricks will only get them so far. We don't need their support."
