Dialogue

Quest Offering

Qarouk Telourshed says, "I have just received word that the robed figures were spotted heading toward Dark Horse Downs. If they are truly our killers, then we must warn the track before anything happens to their horses as well. We do not wish them to suffer our same fate."

"Pursue these defamers. The more I think on it, the more I am convinced they are our game. While you are hunting around, see if anyone has heard anything from Mineon. I still suspect his motives. Now hurry! More horses may die."

Rochara Djereg

  • You say, "Rochara! I need to speak with you."
  • She studies you and asks, "What is it?"
  • "There were a number of horses in Lomshir slaughtered in a brutal, ritualistic manner," you say.
  • "Were they disemboweled?" she asks.
  • You nod and say, "Yes, they were, does that mean it has happened here too?"
  • She frowns and nods, saying, "Yes, i has happened."
  • "Only just today?" you ask.
  • She shakes her head and says, "No, not only today. It was a few days ago... We have been keeping a sharp watch since."
  • "Oh..." you say, frowning and wondering if this clears the robed figures of charges.
  • "Have there been any interesting visitors to the track in that time?" you ask.
  • Rochara chuckles and says, "Friend, we have all manner of interesting visitors here. We offer a rare diversion in this harsh desert."
  • "The individuals I am talking about wear oddly fashioned red and black robes," you say.
  • "The ones with the jackals on their necks?" she asks, frowning.
  • "I have not heard that," you say, "but if they are a pack of qaliathari and mordebi in these dark robes, then maybe."
  • She nods and says, "Yes, they have been... around."
  • "They were seen in Lomshir as well," you say. "Around the time of the killings."
  • Rochara looks thoughtful and says, "This cannot be ignored..." She seems to lose herself in thought and then refocuses. "You should speak with Samarel, our groundskeeper." She scowls.
  • "I have not wanted to, because he is a sneak and a maipulator," she says, "but he will know more than anyone. He has an eye on this whole track."

Samarel Kalun

  • You say, "Samarel, I understand you keep track of this whole track."
  • "I do," he says. "I se that all of it is neat and tidy and well kept."
  • "Including the activities of the people here," you say.
  • He smiles at you and says, "Someone needs to keep track of the trackmaster's nighttime movements." He laughs. "Did shesend you here?"
  • "She did," you say, "but not because of that."
  • "She wishes to know what you know about the horse killings," you say.
  • He seems to sober up and says, "Those gruesome deaths? Not as much as I would like. I pride myself on keeping an eye out... but that night... well."
  • "What?" you prod. "What happened?"
  • "I was having drinks with some of the regulars," he says. "Mercernaries in the employ of Mineon Frenouran."
  • "They aren't going to be back for awhile," Samarel explains. "Got some big job, so they wanted to say goodbye."
  • "Really?" you ask. "Mineon's men? Did they say anything about what they were doing?"
  • He glances at you suspiciously and says, "Only that there was a lot of money in it. They're being paid by someone in Ahgram. Someone big."
  • "And you saw nothing with the horses?" you ask.
  • He shakes his head and says, "Nothing." His voice resonates with regret.
  • "I will tell you though," he says. "A pack of spindly whelps were hanging around. Real slippery looking. I didn't like them one bit."
  • You nod and say, "Rochara noticed them as wel, and they were seen in Lomshir."
  • "Sounds to me like something worth sniffing out," he says. "And I know what is worth sniffing out. It's my business."

Quest Completion

Rochara says, "As much as I hate to admit it, Samarel does seem to know whathe sees. You should pursue these robed figures." She shakes her head.

[continue]

"Have you spoken with any of Mineon Frenouran's men about their next job?" you ask.

She shakes her head and says, "I just know a lot of them won't be coming in for awhile." She pauses and says, "You know, they always boast about where they are going. Strange that they have all been so close-lipped about it." She looks thoughtful and then frowns. "That dosent sit right at all."
