Game Description

  • Ask Horselord Tarqar about the Deaths
  • Probe Mineon Frenouran

Return to Qarouk Telourshed with your findings.

Walkthrough

This is the Lomshir starting quest in the Thestran Web Quests series.

Qarouk Telourshed (Diplomacy Instructor) in Lomshir 16921, -17850, 7425 - near the center of town.

Horselord Tarqar is right around the corner from him.

Horselord Mineon Frenouran is in his villa located near 70936, -52825, 2886 in Lomshir, map marker: Horse Manor.

NOTE: Sometimes Mineon is stuck in the ceiling between the first and second floors and is not visible which will prevent you from using diplomacy. If you target him using the "target nearest NPC" key and hail him, he will drop down to the first floor so you can engage in parley.

Dialogue

Quest Offering

Qarouk Telourshed looks grim as he says, "It is a tragedy, a gruesome tragedy. Horses have been found dead all around Lomshir, slaughtered in brutal ways. Only Mineon Frenouran at his villa has gone unaffected, but then, he has many men there to protect him."

"Horselord Tarqar lost more than anyone. If you want to help us determine who could have done with, speak to him. If there is any decency in you, help us find these savages."

Horselord Tarqar

  • You say, "Horselord Tarqar, I understand you lost some horses."
  • Horselord Tarqar frowns and nods. "They were savagely killed," he says.
  • "How so?" you ask. "Was there the mark of any particular group?"
  • He shakes his head and says, "No one that I know of. I will say that each killing seemed oddly identical... Ritualistic."
  • "You think they were killed as pa part of some kind of ritual?" you ask. "What kind of ritual would call for the slaughter of horses?"
  • He spits and says, "I don't know anything about any rituals so savage as that. They were disemboweled, and their entrails shaped into odd patterns."
  • You push the image from your mind and say, "Brutal. Anyone who would do such a thing is surely unhinged."
  • He nods and says, "And deserving of no less savage a death, which is what they will receive if I ever learn who did it."
  • You nod and ask, "Do you have any idea who it was?"
  • He shakes his head and ays, "I will say that I noticed a few shifty types lurking around. Wimpy little Qaliatharis and mordebis in red and black robes."
  • "They seemed depraved enough to be capable of such barbarism," he says.
  • "And you don't know anything more about them?" you ask.
  • He shakes his head. "But ther have been al manner of unsavory types in Lomshir since Mineon and his fellows withdrew their mercenaries from the city," he says.
  • "They did?" you ask. "Why?"
  • He shrugs and says, "Mineon is an eccentric. I do not think to understand his motives, but they had better be good after what has happened here."

Horselord Mineon Frenouran

  • You say, "Horselord Mineon Frenouran, this is your villa?"
  • Mineon nods and says, "It is. All of the horses belong to me, and all of the able bodies follow my orders."
  • You nod and ask, "So all of the mercenaries are in your employ?"
  • He nods. "But haven't I seen some of them in Lomshir, helping to keep the peace there?" you ask.
  • Mineon grunts and says, "You have, and while I was happy to let the city pay for the use of them, I have other business for them."
  • "What kind of business?" you ask.
  • He narrows his eyes and says, "The kind that pays more money. I received a better offer for their swords. The job should not take long. They will be able to return to the streets of Lomshir soon."
  • You ask, "Have any of your horses been killed recently?"
  • "No one would dare to kill my horses," Mineon says. "Especially not now with all of my mercenaries preparing for their next job."
  • "We are too well defended," he said. "They would be foolish to try." His expression grows perturbed. "I heard what happened in Lomshir, though. Baseless."
  • "Whoever executed those killings deserve to be strung from a tree," he says with steely conviction.
  • You nod and say, "Many grieving stable masters in Lomshir agree. I am glad you did not lose any horses.
  • Mineon nods and says, "I will feel their loss, but I do not share it."
  • "Lucky for you, all your mercenaries were here to protect your stock," you say.
  • He nods and says stiffly, "Very lucky."

Quest Completion

Qarouk Telourshed frowns and says, "Horselord Tarqar had nothing to say but vague speculations about runts in robes? Well, that is somewhere to begin."

[continue]

"So Minon would not give any hints as to what he is amassing his mercenaries for? Odd. He is usually very vocal about their exploits."

He frowns and says, "I hope that he had nothing to do with the deaths. If he did, he will face the wrath of the other Horselords."
