Game Description

Hunt among the guards of the beacon of Hafeez Al'Azzimat for information regarding a potential spy.

  • Interview Guards about Possible Spies (2)
  • Interrogate the Spy

Walkthrough

You should be able to talk to any of the 'Guards' around the Beacon to get the two Parleys done. Once you do your journal will update with the location of 'The Spy'.

After speaking to the spy, hail him again to complete the quest.

Dialogue

Quest Offering

Hafeez says, "We must know who wants to create strife between these cities, and who doesn't care if outr economy falls with it. From all the evidence we have seen, it would seem that someone in Khal is behind it, as Ahgram is going to suffer far more from what is transpiring. However, if it were someone in Ahgram, it would leave said individual far less culpable."

"I do not know," he says. "Instinct says Khal, intellect suggests Ahgram. We must know. Find that spy."

"Any Suspicious Behavior?" (1)

You say, "<NPC>, a moment , if you will."

<NPC> glances at you and asks, "What is it?"

"I was curious if you had noticed any suspicious behavior among your peers," you say.

"Suspicious how?" <NPC> asks.

"Hafeez suspects that there have been soldiers passing as guards here at the Beacon in order to spy on its defenses," you say.

<NPC> lets only a mild look of alarm pass over his face. "On the defenses? Does he suspect someone is readying to attack us?"

"Perhaps," you say. "It is only a theory at this point, but it seems likely."

<NPC> nods and looks to be thinking hard. "We rotate through guards here often," he says. "We pick up many a stray swordsman looking for work. This is not the sort of place anyone wants to stay for long."

"Did any of them stand out?" you ask.

<NPC> shakes his head and says, "No, but then, what good spy would?"

You frown and nod, saying, "So you never saw anything at all?"

<NPC> nods to confirm it. "Nothing," <NPC> says. "But you should continue to ask around. Someone may have."

Guard Forjourna

  • You say, "Guard Forjourna! I need to speak with you."
  • "Do you?" asks Guard Forjourna. "About what?"
  • "Danger to the Beacons," you say.
  • "Danger to the Beacons?" asks Guard Forjourna. "Then, by all means, speak."
  • "Hafeez believes there is a spy here taking stock of the Beacon's weaknesses and strengths," you say.
  • "To what end?" asks Guard Forjourna.
  • "To prepare a force for an attack against you," you say. "He dosen't know when, or exactly why, though it may have consequences both for overland trade and peace between Ahgram and Khal."
  • Guard Forjourna nods and says, "I admit, I do tend to watch the movements of my fellow guards..."
  • "Oh?" you ask. "You keep an eye on everyone here?"
  • Guard Forjourna nods and says, "Especially since we get so any warriors here with loose affiliations. They owe the Beacon nothing, and give as little as they can to collect their pay."
  • "I noticed something the other night," says Guard Forjourna, "one of the more recent recruits seemed to be sketching the Beacon. I approached him and asked him why."
  • "He claimed to be an artist," Guard Forjourna snorts. "But there was little skill in his drawing."
  • "That seems awfully suspicious," you say. "Have you noticed anything else from him?"
  • Guard Forjourna shakes her head. "I have been watching him, looking out for more evidence to bring to Hafeez. He's probably been more careful since then though, if he is your spy."
  • You nod and say, "It seems worth having a word with him though."
  • Guard Forjourna nods and says, "His name is Kavarou Mangred. You should be able to find him on the east side of the Beacon."

Kavarou Mangred

You say, "Kavarou Mangred, I have to speak with you."

Kavarou Mangred glances you up and down and asks, "What is it?"

You ask, "Who do you work for?"

"What do you mean?" asks Kavarou Mangred, narrowing his eyes at you.

"Who pays you?" you ask.

"The Beacon pays me to guard its patrons," he says warily.

"And who is paying you not to guard them?" you say.

"I don't know what you mean," he says with a scoff.

"I think you do," you say. "Who has paid you to betray the Beacons?"

He studies you for a long moment and says, "You have no proof."

"I have an eye witness," you say, "and Hafeez himself suspects it. Help us end the attack on the Beacons, now, and perhaps you will be spared."

He chuckles long and slow and says, "It is too late to end it. Movements are already being made."

"So you admit to it then?" you ask.

"I admit to nothing," he says.

"Except that the Beacons are going to be attacked," you say. "And in the least, you have not warned anyone, and you are suspected of selling them out. Either way, I don't think anyone here would object to using you as a human shield against the attacking force."

He frowns and crosses his arms over his chest.

Quest Completion

Kavarou barks, "So what now?"

[continue]

"You have uncovered me, congratulations," he says with a grunt. "What do you expect to happen from here?"

"I expect you to help take me to the top," you say. "I will not expose you if you help me expose the person above you and prevent the Beacons from being attacked."

"He says passively, "There are many ways of obtaining information here in the sands. Which path to this information do you want to take?"

note: Kavarou Mangred has 3 quests to offer after this one is complete. Gather Information Check, Divine Guidance, and Force Out the Truth - you only get to choose one of them.

Rewards or each quest are the same (Ahgrammun xxxxx Pants, +14 to xxxxx presence)
