Interview Yorma Gavua and Constable Timoline about life on the Upside to ascertain whether it has affected them at all

Return to the Upside Affairs office when you are done.

Walkthrough

This is the Mekalia starting quest for the Thestran Web Quests series.

Parley with Yorma Gavua and Constable Timoline. Both are located in Skyline Bunker just outside Mekalia (Waypoint provided). Return to Egata to complete the quest.

Dialogue

Quest Offering

• Egata Reburleby says, "There is much concern here in Mekalia over what affect being on the upside for too long has on our citizens. We wish to conduct a thorough study into this matter."
• "Would you be so kind as to go out and interview a few of our citizens who are stationed on the Upside? We need to see whether they still think as a citizen of Mekalia should, and whether their loyalty still lies with the Underking."

Constable Timoline

• You say, "Constable Timoline, I need to speak with you."
• "About what?" he asks. "Make it quick. I have a wath to keep."
• You nod and say, "Fair enough. You are a devoted citizen."
• He says, "That I am. i guard this garrison, and this garrison sees to the needs of Mekalia."
• "And you care singularly about the fate of your city?" you ask.
• "Singularly, yes, "he says, "there is nothing else I think of more."
• "That is good," you say. "I am glad to hear that life on the Upside has not shifted your allegiances at all."
• "Why would it?" he asks suspiciously.
• You shrug and say, "Life up here... so bright, so open, among strangers... well, it seems like it could change a person."
• "Well, I think that may be true for those who travel far from Mekalia," he says. "In fact, I would say it's almost certain to happen to those types."
• "But being right here, I can seek solace in its dark, cool confines." he says, "and be reminded of who I am. We don't get mamny non-gnomes here."
• "If you ask me, though, anyone who goes more than a mile away is doomed," he says. "I would never go of my choice. Only the Underking himself could order me to go."
• You nod and say, "that is because you love your people, and your King."
• He nods, salutes Stiffly, and says, "For the Underking!"

Yorma Gavua

• you say, "Yorma Gavua, do you have a minute?"
• She nods and chirps, "What can I do for you?"
• You say, "I am here to speak to you about your feelings about being on the Upside."
• "Why, it's nice enough," she says. "It's a change, and there are many interesting things up here."
• "Hmm," you say,", noting her excitement about being out of mekalia. "But it hasn't shaken your loyalty to Mekalia and the Underking, Has it?"
• "Oh, no!" she says, laughing. "I am very loyal."
• "I see," you say curtly, nodding.
• "Yorma Gavua studies you suspiciously and asks, "do you think that it has affected my loyalties?"
• You shrug, saying, "It is possible. A new environment... strange people... it could change a gnome
• She frowns and says, "I am the same old Yorma Gavua. I am just up here instead of down there."
• "Do you deny that some gnomes come up here and come back... different, though?" you prod.
• "No," she says, "I won't deny that has happened... but it hasn't happened to me."
• "Do you know someone it has happened to?" you ask, pressing further.
• Yorma Gavua looks uncomfortable and after a moment says, "Actually, yes... A friend of mine... He started getting more and more elusive, keeping to himself, stealing out at night."
• One day I caught him out at night in this red and black robe, with a fresh tattoo of a jackal on his neck, chanting something odd," she says. "And he's a common soldier! not a caster of any kind... he got startled when he found me watching and bolted... We haven't seen him since."
• "Huh," you say, "very odd. What was this friend's name?"
• "Mosui Ognra," she says bleakly.

Quest Completion

• "Mosui Ognra?" she asks. "I've heard his name. He has indeed gone missing."
• Egata frowns and says heatedly, "his behavior is exactly the sort I'm talking about! he has obviously been influenced by some dirty plot of humans or elves or... or..." Egata takes a few deep breaths and then smiles.
• "Anyway, we should find him, and let him be given as an example to others of what kind of heinous influence the upside can have on our people."
